Set yourself and your participants up for success during your study sessions!
Mobile Testing
If testing on mobile, download the latest version of the Validately app from the App Store or Play Store. Participants need to have iOS 13+ or Android 9+. We recommend closing out all apps that are not needed for the test session so as much of the phone's resources can be dedicated to the interview and tasks given.
The participants will be prompted by our system to download the app when they click the link to join the study, but some people like to prepare ahead of time!
Desktop Testing
Everyone must be on the latest version of Google Chrome or MS Edge (Chromium) to complete study sessions.
If an extension is needed, the participant will be prompted to install it when they go through the tech check.
Tasks will be under a green button that you can show/hide as needed. This button can also be moved to any corner of your screen.
Your participant will see a quick tutorial when you first click the link to start your test.
Messaging to your own users
For Unmoderated Desktop Studies:
During an unmoderated desktop study, your screen and audio will be recorded. You will be asked to add a Chrome Extension in order for your screen to be recorded. You can delete this extension off of your computer once the recording is complete. Please read the task instructions and speak out loud while going through the tasks and questions.
For the best results, please follow the below instructions:
- Use a recent Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser
- Use a recent operating system
- Make sure your microphone is turned on
- We recommend using a headset (headphones with a microphone work, like those that come with smartphones)
- Take the test in a quiet place
- Read each task aloud
- Speak your thoughts aloud
- Answer the follow-up questions
For Unmoderated Mobile Studies:
During an unmoderated mobile study, your screen and audio will be recorded. Please read the task instructions and speak out loud while going through the tasks and questions. You will be asked to download the Validately app in order for your screen to be recorded. You can delete this app off of your phone once the recording is complete.
